We call on Defra to delay Southern Water’s plan to recycle sewage effluent into drinking water, and demand they properly explore other cheaper, greener solutions first.
This is because of:
Huge environmental concerns.
Deliberate suppression of cheaper, greener solutions for financial reasons.
Totally inadequate consultation.
A complete breakdown of public trust in Southern Water.
The risk of water tasting different, in turn driving customers towards bottled water with further huge environmental impact.
The sewage recycling will be done in Havant, but will supply drinking water to most Southern Water and Portsmouth Water customers.
